#STANDWITHSMALL AND STAND WITH ETSY SELLERS
It’s no secret that I have a very special love affair with Etsy. Heck, I’ve been a seller on the platform since 2009 and I’ve been a buyer for even longer than that!
As a seller and a supporter, I have to say that I’ve been super impressed with Etsy’s response to the pandemic. In a statement from Josh Silverman, the CEO, he outlines several ways the company is investing in its sellers, including a $5 million investment in offsite ads (on platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Bing) at no charge to sellers through the end of April, leniency in bill-paying (a one month, no strings attached grace period with zero consequences), and extra customer service attention to provide sellers with resources and assistance for any issues that may arise with managing a shop during these uncertain times.
They’re also using the hashtag #StandWithSmall to encourage both sellers and buyers to share their purchases and offerings with the social media world. Here’s the call to action:
“Right now the smallest businesses are taking a serious hit. But they’re not backing down. And we’re proud to stand beside them. Join us in boosting these engines of local economies.
Support your favorite sellers, their one-of-a-kind items made with love, their friendly service, and their creative expression that can never be mass-produced. We can help them to keep making. And to keep fighting.”
With all of that being said, I want to take a minute to preface this gift guide with a heartfelt disclaimer. Please do NOT - for one single second - let yourself feel guilty or less than if you are not in a position to shop right now. Your situation is 100% your own, and shopping for anything that isn’t essential might be the absolute last thing on your mind right now. I have a post right here with a bunch of ways you can support small businesses without spending a single dime. I would love for you to check it out if you’re interested in helping in non-monetary ways.
Alright. We good? Good!
One thing I’m thinking about while I can’t hang out with my friends is how to (distantly) spoil them or show them I’m thinking about them. I absolutely love these sweet little gold and pearl monogram necklaces from JillMakes. If you’re not able to be with a loved one on her birthday, consider sending a little happy like this through the mail to say “I love you”!
Obviously, Easter is going to look a bit different this year. Churches are closed, large family gatherings might not even be possible, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bring a little festive into the season. I love these DIY wood crafts from WillowBeeSigns. I mean, I know they’re probably technically for kids, but.. yeah.
To be fair, I don’t have a great plant mom track record. My two fiddle leaf figs (Fred and George) are barely hanging on (Yeah, yeah.. I’m actively working on it) and I’ve killed more succulents than I care to admit. Somehow, I’m still a glutton for punishment, and honestly, I think a lot of it has to do with the amount of adorable planters out there that I just NEED. I mean, can you even handle this little cutie from CeramicSense?
If you’re one of the many people who has resolved to learn a new craft during quarantine, NamasteEmbroidery has you covered! If you have your own supplies, you can purchase the patterns as an instant download, or you can have a full kit shipped to you, including everything you’ll need to create something awesome. I especially love this one, which is described as a beginner kit, so literally anyone could do it!
One of my quarantine goals is to purge my space (have NO mercy!) and redecorate. It’s more important than ever to be in love with the place you’re spending all of your time these days. A great way to quickly and easily refresh your space is with new artwork, and you can get instant gratification with your choice of thousands of printable art pieces on Etsy. I especially love these minimal, feminine collage pieces from LouLouArtStudio.
Just because you’re not going anywhere doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to get dressed up and feel fancy in your own home! I’ve had my eye on this sequin top from ParkerParkerr for a while now, and I may just have to go ahead and make my sparkly dreams come true.. what do y’all think?
Surprisingly, I haven’t taken as many naps as I thought I would these past few weeks. Maybe it’s because my productivity has been kicked into overdrive. Or maybe it’s because I don’t have this awesome blanket from CalhounAndCo that reminds me how good I am at them.
Okay, okay.. I know I said earlier that you deserve to get all fancy (and you totally do!) , but this nap blanket has taken me in a different direction.. LOUNGEWEAR! I’m especially in love with this super cute matching set from DayOfBlossom.
I always like to say that every time you purchase something on Etsy, a real live human being does a real live (and in my case, super awkward) happy dance. You can find more of Etsy’s #StandWithSmall picks right here.
And remember, if you’re not in a position to shop, that’s totally okay! Simply consider snapping a pic of your favorite Etsy purchase and giving the seller a shout-out on social media using the hashtag #StandWithSmall. I’ll be hanging out on Instagram sharing my favorite finds as well, so come say hello over there when you get a chance!
Thank you, Etsy, for continuing to #StandWithSmall and with your sellers. We will all get through this together.
XO, CHRISTEN
