WAYS TO SUPPORT UKRAINE

Hi, my loves! The world’s eyes are on Ukraine and the bravery and resistance of its people. If you’ve been looking for ways to help, I’ve compiled a list below, and I’ll be adding to it as I come across more (vetted) ways to show support. Of course, if you have something you’d like to add to the list, please leave a comment below or DM me on Instagram with details.

Purchase a digital file from a Ukranian Etsy seller.

Digital files are automatically sent to the customer as soon as they are purchased, so it requires zero effort on the seller’s part. This is especially helpful for those who have fled their homes or are left without power or access to the internet. This link will take you directly to a search page of digital files, filtered by shops located in Ukraine. I purchased several for myself, including this one.

This one and this one (from the same artist).

And these.

There are also many Ukrainian Etsy sellers who are not able to sell their physical products and have put digital file placeholders in their shops. (Those files will also show up in the search linked above.) I spoke to Сергей of Lovely Sweet Home Store (who sells some of the most beautiful childrens’ furniture I’ve ever seen - below) and his family is currently living underground. He told me that it is somewhat calmer in his city than in others, and that they plan to try to stay in Ukraine as long as they possibly can. If you’d like to support his family, you’ll see his digital files at the top of his shop when you click the link above.

Donate to World Central Kitchen.

Founded by José Andrés in 2010, World Central Kitchen is one of the leading humanitarian organizations providing food to areas in crisis. You can read more of their story right here, and donate directly to the efforts in Ukraine here.

“Rent” an Airbnb from a host in Ukraine or donate to Airbnb’s organization that helps host refugees.

Along the same lines as purchasing digital art from Ukranian Etsy sellers, you can also help out Ukranian Airbnb hosts by “renting” from them. With the situation in Ukraine, these hosts are not able to count on rental income and have probably dealt with tons of cancellations from travelers who no longer feel it’s safe to come. Simply search “Ukraine” on Airbnb.com, and book a stay (the sooner the better, because Airbnb releases funds within 24 hours of the check-in date). Simply let the host know that you’re showing support in the message it allows you to send. Airbnb has announced that they are currently waiving fees for all Ukrainian hosts, so you can feel confident that the entire amount is going directly to the host/family. You can also donate directly to Airbnb’s fund to help host refugees who are fleeing to other countries.

Support Black and LGBTQ+ refugees.

Multiple reports have shown unequal treatment of minority refugees, and there is fear that neighboring countries aren’t guaranteed to be safe spaces for them once they do arrive. This article does a great job of explaining the situation and has lots of ways you can support these groups.

Send help to the animals of Ukraine.

IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, has been posting updates about the work they’ve been doing in Ukraine, which includes providing food for pets traveling with refugees, safe passage for zoo animals, and support for local shelters. You can stay up to date with their work and donate here.
